Kled Gaeow Wreck

Also known as: HTMS Kled Kaeo · HTMS Kled Kaew · Kled Kaeo · RTN Kled Gaeow · The Phi Phi Wreck

It is the only wreck among the local Phi Phi sites, which are otherwise limestone walls and coral reefs. The ship lies on a sandy bottom roughly a kilometre east of the Pileh lagoon, with the top of the superstructure at about 14 m. Soft corals, sea fans and anemones now grow on the decks and railings, and yellowtail barracuda, snappers and batfish crowd around the hull. Lionfish, scorpionfish, moray eels, groupers and sometimes frogfish live on the structure. The holds can be entered only by trained wreck divers, and the dive is best timed for slack tide because the current can be strong.
