Back Wall
Also known as: Back Side · Molokini Back Wall · The Backside
The back of Molokini falls as a sheer wall into very deep water, with sources giving 300 to 360 feet to the bottom, so divers drift along it at a chosen depth with the blue below them. Dive centres run it as a drift for experienced and advanced divers, and currents and surface waves can be strong. The wall carries finger coral, red pencil urchins and black coral that shelters longnose hawkfish, while orange cup coral covers the shady ceilings of the larger overhangs and loose groups of pyramid butterflyfish feed on plankton off the wall. Whitetip and grey reef sharks are seen here, and manta rays, whale sharks, dolphins and humpback whales in season are possible. Parts of the wall, such as Flying Sea Cliffs and Edge of the World, are also named as separate sites.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
