MV Imperial Eagle

Also known as: Imperial Eagle

The 45 m ferry made its first crossing between Malta and Gozo on 1 June 1958 and carried passengers, cars and cargo. It was sunk as an artificial reef in a marine conservation area and is open for penetration through several rooms and corridors. The wooden parts have mostly rotted away, leaving the metal structure, and only the wheel remains of the bridge. Near the wreck a rock arch in the reef wall has an old anchor in front of it. The boat usually drops divers between the wreck and the statue so both can be seen on one dive.
