La Ferreteria
La Ferreteria is a small submerged pinnacle off the southern end of Malpelo. Life is extremely dense: several morays share single crevices, and large scorpionfish lie on top of each other. Currents are very strong, so divers have to take care not to be swept off the pinnacle or pushed onto it. In season, silky sharks can gather here in groups of up to 200 animals.
