Kimud Shoal
Also known as: Kemod Shoal
Kimud Shoal is a small seamount whose top lies at about 13 to 15 m, with a slope that falls away to more than 200 m. Since about 2022 most of Malapascua's pelagic thresher sharks come here instead of Monad Shoal to be cleaned, and because Kimud is shallower and smaller, encounters are often closer and continue later into the morning. Divers settle quietly near the cleaning stations, and flash and lights are not allowed. Tuna, devil rays and manta rays also pass by, and scalloped hammerheads are reported in the first months of the year. Dive centres recommend nitrox for qualified divers.
