Old Buoy
Also known as: Boya Vieja
Old Buoy is a gentler alternative to the sheer walls, with a sloping bottom cut by coral trenches and canyons that divers can swim through. The site was once marked by a buoy of the University of Puerto Rico's marine sciences department; the buoy is gone, but a large concrete anchor block and the remains of the mooring line are still on the bottom west of the usual drop point. Spiny and Spanish lobsters are common in the reef. Bar jacks, barracuda and mackerel pass by, and large green moray eels, big snappers and occasional eagle rays are reported. PRDayTrips dived it as a shallower second dive after the deep wall.
