Motor Reef
Also known as: El Motor · Motor Reef Wreck
The site is named after an aircraft engine lying on the reef near Turrumote Cay. A 1996 underwater archaeology survey found only the one radial engine, still in its cowling, with its propeller attached and the blades feathered, plus a loose part nearby. The data plate identified a Pratt and Whitney R-1830-92, a type used on Navy R4D transports and later PBY Catalina flying boats, so which aircraft it came from is still unresolved. Local dive boats visit it as a second dive after the wall.
