Pipe Dreams

Pipe Dreams takes its name from large steel pipes that were laid down the slope off Keahole Point to try to generate energy from the temperature difference of the sea water. According to Zentacle the pipes reach down more than 1000 ft (about 300 m), are about 1.5 to 1.8 m wide and can be entered. Because the site sits at the westernmost point of the island, currents can be swift, and sharks, whales, dolphins and turtles are among the animals reported. Kona Honu Divers has adopted the site and keeps it clean of fishing line, lead weights and hooks.
