Crystal Rock
Also known as: Crystal Bommie · Cristal Rock
Crystal Rock is a larger and more colourful neighbour of Castle Rock, and the clarity of its water gave it its name. The main rock breaks the surface at low tide, and a smaller submerged mound to the north-west attracts schooling fish. Divers either shelter on the lee side or drop into the split on a current to watch grey reef and white-tip sharks, Napoleon wrasse, trevally and the occasional eagle ray. The walls on the north side carry soft corals and large fans, and pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs and frogfish make the site rewarding for macro too. Currents can be strong, so dives are timed around the tide.
