Shaab Eshta
Also known as: Shaab Ishta
The name means 'cream' in Arabic and is also slang for 'cool'. The site is small enough to circle the two ergs twice in one dive, at different depths. In the seagrass divers look for groups of lionfish, stingrays, turtles, seahorses and ghost pipefish. A school of goatfish, sweetlips and snappers hangs in the channel between the ergs, where current is strongest, and stonefish and crocodilefish lie on the rubble. A large Malabar grouper patrols the area, and a small cave shelters a turtle at night.
