MV Tui Tawaite
Also known as: Tui Tawaite · Tui Tawate
The Tui Tawaite took part in the rescue after the Wahine ferry sank in Wellington in 1968 and was later used to recover oil from the Coolidge. She was scuttled in the Segond Channel as a dive wreck in the early 1980s and now stands upright on a white sand flat. The dark hull against the bright sand makes a striking sight, and coral, sea pens and plenty of fish have settled around her. Penetration into the engine and boiler rooms is possible. With the keel at 46 m, this is a deep dive.
