Amaras Reef

Also known as: Faros

Amaras Reef, also called Faros, is dived on the north side of the reef of Amaras, the reef on which the cargo ship Marianna was lost. Very strong currents can build up here, so the dive is often done as a drift instead of from the back of the boat. The wall has good bottom formations and a lot of fish life. Large moray eels and nudibranchs are frequent, and the site also has historical interest.
