Los Chopitos
Also known as: Mermaid Beach · Playa La Sirenita
The entry is easy and the bottom slopes gently from a couple of metres down to about 12 m, so new divers can settle before going to the open reefs. Despite its role as a training site, the reef is lively: octopus and relaxed snappers that are hard to approach elsewhere are easy to watch here. Turtles, stingrays and several kinds of moray eel are common, and spotted eagle rays are possible. Local captains prefer the name Los Chopitos, while visitors know it as Mermaid Beach. The park guide names it as one of the few places where introductory courses may be held.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
