La Esperanza
Guides describe it as a gamble: some dives bring tuna, huge amberjacks, golden trevally, bull jacks and hunting dog snapper, others only the scenery. The landscape is rocky and darker than the shallow reefs, with fewer corals and usually less current than the other outer sites. Sea turtles, stingrays and several kinds of moray eel are common, and mobula rays and guitarfish appear in season. Bull and tiger sharks are listed as possible encounters. The park guide divides the site into a north and a south part, each with its own monthly diver limit.
