La Lobera
También conocido como: Sea Lion Colony · Frailes Rock Sea Lion Colony
The dive usually starts in the shallows around the rock where the sea lions haul out, and continues along the rocks toward the sand further out. In May and June the young sea lions approach divers to play, while from late summer to early autumn most of the colony leaves and only a few older animals remain. Despite the predators, the rocks are crowded with surgeonfish, damselfish and parrotfish, and a resident school of barracuda is reported. Eagle rays pass by, and looking toward open water can bring pelagic fish such as tuna and mackerel. The site is reachable only by boat or kayak, which also makes it a popular snorkelling stop.
