Big Reef
Big Reef is reached in about 20 minutes by boat from Bodrum, and its top starts only a few metres below the surface. The side facing Karaada drops as a steep wall, while another side descends more gradually, so open water divers and advanced divers can dive it on different routes. Divers usually descend along the anchor chain to the top of the reef. The rock is covered with sponges of many shapes and colours, and dive centres report large groupers, dentex, jacks, barracuda schools and moray eels. Blue Escape recommends it to underwater photographers, and its smaller neighbour Small Reef lies about 200 metres away towards Bodrum.
