Pollockshields
She ran into a white squall on her way from Cardiff and hit the near-shore reef when the fog lifted. Rescuers took the crew ashore through heavy surf, but the captain was swept overboard and drowned. The engine stood above the water for decades until it was blasted down in 1960 because swimmers were injuring themselves on it. Divers can still see two boilers, the triple-expansion engine, a large propeller and shell casings from her cargo.
