Japanese Garden
Also known as: Japanese Gardens
Divers enter through a gully in the fringing reef, cross an eelgrass bed where snowflake morays live and meet the main reef at about 5 m. Past a pinnacle and a large lettuce coral, an undulating reef of old table corals and black coral slopes gently towards a drop on its seaward side. Below roughly 26 m lies an area of large black corals that local guides call Black Coral Valley. Hawksbill turtles, shoaling barracuda, fusiliers and sergeant majors are regular sights, and corals moved here from the Saudi border area in 2013 now grow on the reef. Technical divers use the site as the start for the deep Taiyong wreck.
