Beang Abang

Also known as: Beangabang · Biangabang · The Twilight Zone · Teluk Beang Reef

Hot springs from the volcano run into the beach at Biangabang village, but the water here can still be cool. The dive starts near a lava flow, with coral reef to one side and volcanic black sand to the other. The sand hides snake eels, mantis shrimp, bobbit worms, Pegasus seamoths, mimic octopus, ghost pipefish, hairy frogfish and ribbon eels, and Dive The World reports that the very rare Djibouti giant nudibranch has been found here. Divernet adds schools of fusiliers and sweetlips over the hard and soft corals. Night dives bring out hunting mantis shrimp and Spanish dancers.
