Cape Byron Marine Park extends 37 kilometres of coastline and covers about 220 square kilometres. Declared in 2002, it is one of four marine parks in New South Wales. The park sits at the overlap of subtropical and temperate zones, where the East Australian Current brings warm tropical waters, supporting popular scuba diving at the Julian Rocks formation.
