Cape Pinnacle
Also known as: The Pinn
Cape Pinnacle is a large circular rocky reef just off Cape Byron that can be swum right around in a single dive. Its top lies at about 27 metres and the base at about 42 metres, so bottom time is short. The rock is overgrown with soft corals and sponges, with undercuts, ledges and colourful invertebrates. Jewfish, cobia, cod, groper, kingfish, rays and large wobbegongs are the typical large fish. Current is often strong and visibility can be low, so it is run as a charter for deep-certified divers and used for divemaster training.
