Split Bommie

Also known as: Split Bombie

Split Bommie is a group of large bommies north of the Nursery at Julian Rocks, named after one rock that looks split down the middle. The crevice is typically filled with schooling bullseyes, large wobbegong sharks and invertebrates. Goatfish, starry toadfish, egg cowries on soft corals, sponges and ascidians round out the reef. In winter grey nurse sharks cruise around the site, and manta rays sometimes pass near the surface. With a maximum of about 15 metres it is used for students and newer divers.
