Kingston
Conosciuto anche come: Sara H · Shag Rock
Shag Rock is a round reef about a mile south of Sha'ab Ali and some 6 miles from the Thistlegorm, marked by a small light on its south-eastern side. On its northern side lies the Kingston, a 78 m cargo ship built in Sunderland in 1871 that struck the reef in February 1881 with coal bound for Aden. For years the wreck was wrongly called Sara H, a name Emperor Divers says belonged to no real ship. The intact propeller lies at the stern, the hull is open and well lit, and the boiler is still visible. Sweetlips, goatfish and soft corals cover the wreck, and the surrounding reef offers turtles, groupers, whitetip reef sharks and visiting dolphins.
