Beomseom
Conosciuto anche come: Tiger Island · Bumsum · Bum-Sum
Beomseom is a lava dome of trachyte whose silhouette is said to resemble a crouching tiger. The island and its waters form a nature reserve listed as Natural Monument 421, and the soft coral colonies there are protected again as Natural Monument 442. Under water the columnar joints of the cliffs form sheer walls and four sea caves, including the twin caves known as the Nostril. Pink and orange soft corals cover the walls, and schools of damselfish move between them. Named points such as Train Rock, the Nostril, Saekki Island and the coral garden are dived from boats out of Seogwipo and Beophwan.
