Manta Ridge
Also known as: Tzimoulis Ridge
The ridge crosses the channel and squeezes the tide, which makes it an easy cleaning stop for mantas between roughly 2 and 4 m across. Small reef fish pick parasites from the rays, and schools of jacks and black snapper gather on the ridge. Whitetip reef sharks patrol regularly, with an occasional grey reef shark. Divers are asked to stay low near the edges so the mantas can pass freely; blocked rays turn away rather than hover. Divernet notes the mantas come in on the morning incoming tide, mainly in winter and spring.
