Taketomi Tokakin no Ne
Also known as: 竹富トカキンの根 (Japanese)
Tokakin is the Okinawan word for dogtooth tuna, and schools of them patrol the pinnacle, especially from winter to spring. When the current is right, barracuda, rainbow runners, giant trevally and bigeye trevally join them, and mantas and hammerhead sharks have been seen. At around 13 m the pinnacle carries square-spot fairy basslets. The site lies about 40 minutes by boat from Ishigaki port.
