Irizaki
Also known as: 西崎 (Japanese) · いりざき (Japanese)
Irizaki is a collective name for several spots off the cape, including Hammerhead Rock and Minami no Ne. The classic hammerhead dive is a blue-water drift at about 20 m over a seabed of around 70 m, away from any reef, so quick descents and good buoyancy are required. From December to May, and above all from January to March, schools of more than two hundred hammerheads have been reported. Dogtooth tuna, barracuda, bigeye trevally and giant trevally are regulars, and sailfish, whale sharks, mantas and dolphins have been seen. It is only a few minutes from Kubura harbour, but encounters are never guaranteed.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
