Blue Pearl Bay

Blue Pearl Bay on the north-western coast of Hayman Island is frequently visited by charter boats for snorkelling and diving. The best diving starts off the southern end of the beach towards Castle Rock, where shallow ledges drop to a wall of about 15 m with caves and canyons. Coral gardens lie to the right of the beach towards Dolphin Point. A resident giant Maori wrasse called Priscilla is the star of the bay, and a Maori wrasse sculpture of the Ngaro Underwater Marine Sculpture Trail stands here too. The bay is calm and shallow, which makes it a good site for beginners.
