Congo Cay
Congo Cay lies north of Lovango Cay in Pillsbury Sound and is dived from both St. John and St. Thomas. A typical dive begins over sand where big southern stingrays lie and forage, then follows a ridge of rocky spires up to a wall coated in soft corals and sponges. Just Gotta Dive treats the cay as at least two sites, a current-washed eastern side and a sheltered, shallower southwestern side, with areas for novices as well as experienced divers, and Aqua Action describes a sand chute at the western end that drops like a ski jump to about 80 ft. Small grottoes, canyons and pinnacles hold reef fish, and turtles, tarpon, barracuda, sharks and occasionally bottlenose dolphins pass by, while wrasse run cleaning stations on the reef.
