Mounds at Mingo

Also known as: Mingo Cay · Mingo Key

Mingo Cay lies northwest of St. John between Lovango Cay and Grass Cay. Scuba Diving magazine describes the dive as rolling low mounds on sand at around 50 ft, with good coral and sponge growth that draws reef fish and passing rays. Juvenile fish hide among star corals in the shallows. Aqua Action uses it for training because it stays shallow, and points out small coral heads on a fairly steep slope where tube worms, crinoids and urchins hide, which makes it good for macro photography.
