Orlebar Point
Divers who come by ferry enter from a sandstone shelf facing the Entrance Island lighthouse and swim about five minutes over shallow ledges to the drop-off. The wall steepens towards a prominent point, where the current is usually strongest and the growth is densest. Cascading plumose anemones, crimson anemones, boot sponges and, deeper down, large cloud sponges cover the rock. Giant Pacific octopus, candy stripe shrimp, transparent sea peaches and orange cup corals are found along the face, and sea lions often pass by. It is best dived at high slack tide.
