Beachcomber
Also known as: Beachcomber Park
A long and steep trail leads down to the beach, which is why fewer divers come here. Underwater the terrain builds up in layers: a shallow wall full of crevices at about 15 to 18 m, rolling sandstone shelves, a stepped wall around 21 to 27 m and finally a deep wall that drops far below recreational limits. Quillback, China, black and yelloweye rockfish, tiger rockfish, lingcod, wolf eels and octopus live along the walls. Cloud sponges grow on the deepest parts. The site is big enough that divers can return many times and explore new sections.
