Koh Tachai Pinnacle
Also known as: Tachai Pinnacle · Koh Tachai Plateau · The Dome
The larger, dome-shaped southern pinnacle tops out at about 12 to 14 metres and is surrounded by large boulders, some forming swim-throughs, while the smaller northern pinnacle starts at about 18 metres. A sandy area at around 24 to 25 metres links the two, and the sand bottom lies at 30 to 40 metres. The northern side has a coral garden rich in soft corals and sea fans. Currents attract schools of batfish, trevally, barracuda and rainbow runners, and manta rays, whale sharks and leopard sharks visit regularly in season. Divers descend and ascend on buoy lines and shelter among the boulders when the current is strong.
