Jackfish Alley
Also known as: Fisherman's Bank
The site is named after the sandy alley that runs between the coastal reef and a parallel satellite reef, a route that jackfish, trevallies, tuna and barracuda use. The dive starts at a white mark on the cliff and soon reaches a large cave entrance at about 6 m; a second, vertical cave further on has light falling through cracks onto pygmy sweepers and hatchet fish. Beyond a glassfish coral head a hard coral plateau leads into the alley itself. Whitetip reef sharks, stingrays and eagle rays are regular, and nesting titan triggerfish can be territorial in late summer.
