Shark Observatory
Also known as: Ras Mohammed Wall
The site lies below the cliff-top balcony from which visitors once watched sharks, and it is also known as the Ras Mohammed Wall. The wall drops far beyond 100 m and is cut by gullies, overhangs and small caves full of glassfish and hatchetfish. South-facing parts carry colourful soft corals, while the shaded north-facing parts have hard corals and ledges with large fan corals. Hawksbill turtles graze on the wall, and jacks, barracuda, unicornfish and occasionally sharks pass in the blue. It can be reached by boat or from the shore through a gap in the reef, and Anemone City lies at its southern end.
