Amphoras
According to the local dive centres, a Turkish ship carrying amphoras of mercury sank here centuries ago; the hull is long gone, but fragments of the jars and the ship's original anchor with inscriptions remain at around 23 to 25 m. Circle Divers adds that the spilled mercury once formed mirror-like pools on the seabed. Above the anchor a sandy slope from about 12 m holds pinnacles covered in soft corals, glassfish and anthias. Pipefish, nudibranchs and scorpionfish hide in the coral, while eagle rays and turtles pass along the drop-off.
