Punta del Faro di Portofino

Also known as: Faro di Portofino · The Lighthouse · Portofino Lighthouse

Huge boulders lie leaning against each other, forming tunnels and holes, and an impressive passage between two big rocks lies just below 20 m. Red coral grows in the crevices of a wide rockfall, where conger and moray eels hide and groupers, white seabream and brown meagre swim over the rocks. A plateau at about 14 m is known for very large resident dusky groupers, and its steep flank carries red gorgonians. The currents bring schools of barracuda, snapper, amberjack and tuna. At the point a rock is covered in yellow sea daisies, and the ridge continues far deeper for technical divers, beyond 50 and even 70 m.
