Wild Beast Point

The point is named after the bronze whaler sharks that frequent it in summer. Below the turbulent surface a sloping kelp platform drops steeply on its western side, where colourful walls with golfball and antler sponges attract plankton-eating fish. Strong current is common, and boats usually cannot anchor, so they follow the divers. Seafriends calls it a tricky dive that is seldom done.
