Middle Arch

Compared with Northern Arch the site is shallower and usually has only weak current, and the arch floor lies at about 15 to 18 m while the surrounding bay drops much deeper. The boulder bottom and colourful walls hide scorpionfish, moray eels and many nudibranchs, while blue maomao, demoiselles and snapper fill the arch. Just left of the southern entrance is Bernie's Cave, a wide sandy cave whose ceiling holds an air bubble large enough for several divers to surface into. Stingrays often rest on the sand in the cave and around the arch. Seafriends rates the area highly for macro photography because several habitats meet there.
