Fred's Pinnacle
The two tops lie at about 5 and 13 m, and boats anchor on strap kelp over the saddle at about 15 m. Demoiselles, blue and pink maomao, trevally and sweep crowd the site, with barracouta at the edge of visibility. The ridge drops ever steeper to the east, so careful navigation back to the anchor line is essential. The site is named after Fred Cotterill, an early Tutukaka charter skipper who specialised in divers.
