Lampione Est

Lampione is a rock with a small lighthouse, reached by boat in about 40 minutes from Lampedusa. On its east side boats moor in front of the small pier on 8 to 10 m and divers swim east to the edge of a step that turns into a wall beyond 40 m. Large boulders on the sand at its foot shelter white seabream, moray eels and big groupers. Dusky and golden groupers, amberjack, dentex, gilthead bream and stingrays are common. From mid-July to early October sandbar sharks are regularly seen, sometimes from as shallow as 18 m.
