Madonnina

Also known as: Scoglio della Madonnina

The rock is the top of a submerged hill that sits on a mix of sand, boulders and Posidonia seagrass. Its pyramid-shaped body is pierced by a large opening, and the bronze statue of the Madonna of Porto Salvo with Child stands at this passage on the south-west side. The statue was a gift to the islanders from the underwater photographer Roberto Merlo. Sponges and orange cup coral cover the walls, where large numbers of white seabream and parrotfish gather. The shallow profile makes it a dive for all levels.
