Umm Al Fayyarin

Also known as: Mother of Mouse · Umm Al Fayarin

Umm Al Fayyarin, better known as Mother of Mouse, sits offshore about ten minutes from Khor Habalayn. Its reef slopes around the island and steepens to walls on the north and south points, with table corals between 5 and 10 m. A ridge clothed in green soft coral runs south to about 42 m and draws schools of barracuda, trevally and parrotfish. Mola mola, whale sharks, blacktip sharks, eagle rays and torpedo rays are all recorded here, and turtles often keep divers company on the safety stop. There is almost always current, usually from the east, and thermoclines can make the water cool.
