Octopus Rock
Octopus Rock rises from the seabed about 3 km offshore north of Lima, between Khor Qabal and Morovi Island. The name comes from the ridges that run off the main pinnacle like tentacles, forming gullies that slope off beyond 50 m. It is big enough for two or three dives, and its sheltered position inside Lima Bay means it can be dived in most conditions. Batfish escort divers on the ridge tops, while whale sharks, big-eye trevally, cobia, tuna and barracuda pass in the blue. Seahorses, nudibranchs, cuttlefish and lionfish live among dense soft corals.
