Coral Street Beach

Also known as: Coral Street · Lucas Point

Coral Street Beach lies about three quarters of a mile from Lovers Point. A protected little cove is shallow for the first 100 yards, after which divers reach sand channels, kelp, walls and pinnacles. In recent years the inshore area has turned largely into a purple urchin barren, so many divers head farther out toward Chase Reef or, with a very long swim, Aumentos Reef. Its position near Point Pinos brings more current, swell and surge than inner bay sites, and boat traffic is heavy; dolphins, porpoises and whales are sometimes seen close by. Parking along Ocean View Boulevard is free.
