Cannery Point

Cannery Point forms the western edge of Whalers Cove, opposite Middle Reef across the sand channel. Divers follow the edge of the cove from the parking lot and quickly reach depths of 65 to 80 ft. Along with thick kelp, the site has a wall covered with large anemones, carpets of strawberry anemones, orange cup corals and patches of blue and deep red sponge. The Point Lobos Foundation map notes that the Cannery Point reef is less clearly defined than Middle Reef, so navigation back to the sand channel needs care. Its northern end holds the Hole in the Wall landmark.
