Ball Buster

Also known as: Ballbuster

Ball Buster is a boat dive on a pinnacle in the outer bay off the Pacific Grove shore. The descent runs through blue water to the top at around 65 ft, and a ring of white metridium anemones circles the rock near 85 ft before the bottom at about 110 ft, beyond which the seafloor drops toward the Monterey Canyon. Pink corynactis covers much of the rock, and divers report cabezon guarding nests and giant Pacific octopus in cracks. Because it lies farther offshore, sea nettle blooms and larger animals such as mola mola can pass by. OpenDiveSites warns of strong currents and fast boat traffic.
