Chocolate Island

Chocolate Island sits between Malapascua and the port of Maya, about 20 minutes by boat. Rocks covered in soft corals, leather corals, sea fans and sponges slope down to sand. It is a favourite of macro photographers for its nudibranchs and flatworms, seahorses, frogfish, ghost pipefish, mantis shrimp and cephalopods, including blue-ringed octopus and flamboyant cuttlefish in the cooler months. At night sea hares, giant cuttlefish and Spanish dancers appear.
