Tarpon Caves

Also known as: Tarpon Cave

Tarpon Caves is one of the mooring sites along the south side of Half Moon Caye. The dive enters a vertical tunnel at about 12 m that drops into a crevice close to 30 m deep, and divers return through a second chute. The wall around it has cuts, holes and swim-throughs and more hard coral than the Long Caye walls, with barrel sponges and yellow tube sponges. Tarpon hide in the caves and openings and great barracuda accompany divers, while garden eels live in the sand behind the reef.
