Pyla Pirate Caves
Also known as: Pyla Caves · Pyla Sea Caves · Pirates' Caves · Pirate Caves
The caves were once used by pirates and smugglers and are the only place in Cyprus where divers can dive into a cave and come up inside the mountain. After a short descent the route leads through a large entrance into an air-filled cavern where bats hang from the ceiling and divers can climb out and look at the stalactites by torchlight. All three caves can be visited in one dive, and the reef outside completes the dive in clear water. Marine life is less rich than on the open reefs but includes lobsters, shrimp, crabs, octopus and moray eels, and the caves are one of the rare places in Cyprus where the Mediterranean monk seal may be seen. Local centres often pair it with the HMS Cricket as a second dive.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
